After years of producing beats for other rappers, Kanye West is finally signed to have his album. Right after, he gets into a traffic accident and breaks his jaw.

The record company immediately postpones his deal for an undisclosed date. Kanye is lying in the hospital bed. His jaw is being reconstructed. His mouth is full of wires. Kanye hears a tune in his head, its children singing in a chorus, “Through the Wire.”

As soon as he leaves the hospital, he starts looking for ways to produce this song. Now that the record company is not supporting him anymore. He calls in favors, and one of the well-known artists he has been producing beats for lends him some studio time.

Everyone in the studio is amazed by the tune.

One of the guys in the studio tells him he knows immediately when an artist is about to slide and procrastinate. When others will rise to the stars. He tells Kanye that as long he starts writing the song, as soon as he gets an idea. As he did in the hospital, he will keep on rising.

This song becomes the biggest breakout of his career. He gets his record label to release it; the rest is history. I’m writing this story on a whim. I hope you will approach your creative projects in the same way after reading this.
